There
are five things that you should know
about me.
1)
I was born into a military family and I went to
the US Military Academy at West Point. And I served
21 years altogether, both in the US Army as an
Infantry Officer and in the Maine Army National
Guard as
a Chaplain.
2) I grew up going to church almost every Sunday,
but I didn’t come to know Jesus as my personal
Saviour until I was 25 years old. Those who know
me know that my military and church backgrounds
explain an awful lot about me. In life and in
church, I try to say what I mean andI mean what
I say, and I try to do that with as much grace
as possible. I am not one person outside of church
and another person inside church. With me, what
you see is what you get.
3)
I have a wonderful wife, Avril, and two great
children, Jeremy (who
lives with his wife, Lauren, in Raleigh, NC),
and Lindsay (who lives with
her husband, Sean, in Stamford, CT). In my marriage
and in my family life, God has blessed me beyond
all that I could have ever hoped for.
4)
My favourite rock band back in the days of my
youth was Creedance Clearwater Revival. Over the
years I’ve learned to love classical music
and even a little bit of opera. But deep down,
I love music that lets you unashamedly show the
world what’s in your heart and soul. And
lastly,
5)
I have now walked with Jesus for more than half
my life, so hopefully,
He has managed to change more than half of me!
I look forward to being with Him forever; but
in the meantime, I must still say, “Please
be patient with me, for God isn’t finished
with me yet!”
The
